Size Guide
At Qirovane, we believe that finding the perfect fit is essential to feeling confident in your outfit. Because our collection features a diverse range of silhouettes—from structured tailored suits and fitted evening gowns to flowing kaftans and relaxed wide-leg trousers—sizing can vary significantly between styles. This guide will help you understand how to measure yourself accurately and interpret the specific size information provided on each product page.
Understanding Our Sizing System
All Qirovane garments are sized using standard letter sizing: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL, and 3XL. Please note that these sizes do not correspond directly to numerical US or UK dress sizes across all brands. Always rely on the specific measurements listed for the item you wish to purchase rather than assuming your usual size will fit every garment.
Body Measurements vs. Garment Measurements
It is crucial to distinguish between two types of data:
- Body Measurements: These are the dimensions of your actual body (e.g., bust, waist, hips). You use these to determine which size category you fall into.
- Garment Measurements: These are the physical dimensions of the finished piece (e.g., total length, shoulder width, sleeve length). Some product pages provide these to help you visualize how the item will drape or cover you.
Never assume that a garment measurement equals your body measurement. For example, a dress with a 34-inch bust measurement may be designed to fit a body with a 32–33-inch bust, depending on the fabric stretch and cut.
How to Measure Yourself Accurately
To ensure accuracy, use a soft measuring tape and wear undergarments similar to what you plan to wear with the outfit. Keep the tape snug against your skin but not tight enough to compress your body.
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Ensure it passes over the nipple line and around your back without dipping.
Waist
Find the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above your belly button. If this area is undefined, bend slightly to the side; where your body creases is your natural waistline. Measure around this point while breathing normally.
Hips
Stand with feet together and measure around the widest part of your hips and buttocks. Keep the tape level and parallel to the floor.
Shoulders & Sleeve Length
For structured items like blazers or gowns with specific sleeve designs (such as bishop sleeves), check if the product page lists shoulder width or sleeve length. To measure your own shoulder width, place the tape from one shoulder seam point to the other across your back. For sleeve length, measure from the center of your neck, over the tip of your shoulder, down to your wrist bone.
Interpreting Product-Specific Fit Notes
Each product description includes unique fit advice based on its construction. Here is how to apply those notes:
- Structured Tailoring (e.g., Blazer Sets): Items like our 3D Floral Appliqué Blazer feature a regular tailored fit. If you prefer extra room through the shoulders or bust, or if you are between sizes, consider reviewing the specific garment measurements before selecting your size.
- Fitted Bodices (e.g., Evening Gowns): Styles such as the Beaded Corset Bodice Gown or Beaded Fringe Two-Piece Set are designed with a figure-hugging fit. The descriptions explicitly recommend sizing up if you are between sizes to ensure comfort around the bust and ribcage.
- Relaxed Silhouettes (e.g., Kaftans): Flowing pieces like the Asymmetrical Kaftan Maxi Dress offer a loose, breathable fit. While manual measurements may vary by 0.4–1.2 inches due to the nature of hand-sewn details and fabric draping, these items generally accommodate a wider range of body shapes without clinging.
Note on Variance: Due to the intricate hand-beading, embroidery, and appliqué work featured in many Qirovane designs, slight variations in final measurements (typically within 0.4–1.2 inches) are normal and do not constitute a defect.
When You Are Between Sizes
If your measurements fall between two sizes, there is no universal rule for choosing up or down. Instead, evaluate the following:
- Fabric Stretch: Does the item have elasticity? Structured suiting fabrics often have less give than jersey or chiffon blends.
- Closure Type: Items with zippers (like our corset bodices) require precise fitting, whereas drawstring or elasticated waists (like some kaftans) offer more flexibility.
- Personal Preference: Do you prefer a snug, form-fitting look, or do you value ease of movement?
Always compare your body measurements against the specific size chart provided on the individual product page. If a detailed chart is missing, refer to the fit advice text in the description.
